Hazel’s first birthday was two weeks ago and I can’t believe that I have a one year old! This has been the best year with her and we feel so lucky that she’s our daughter.
We had a floral first birthday party for her and it was perfection. She had so much fun with all her friends and family, loved eating cake (I made it with bananas and no sugar because she’s never had sugar and I was afraid she wouldn’t like it if it was too sugary), and loved opening presents (with the help of her cousin). The day seriously couldn’t have gone better.
We wanted to keep the decorations simple and inexpensive, so we used items we already had in the house and made everything else. The tassels that hung from the high chair, the floral garland, the chalkboard signs, the floral arrangement on the teepee, and the floral letters with her name, are all things we (Cody, my mom, and I) made ourselves. The bouquet party favors were made by the floral design class at the high school my mom and sister work at, and the “first year” poster and invitations were designed by my friend Jena from Birdie Brain Designs. And I can’t forget the amazing pictures that were taken by my friend Morgan from Magnolia Rain Photography. Morgan has photographed Hazel’s baby shower, maternity, hospital, newborn, and family pictures, and now Hazel’s first birthday! I am so grateful for all the memories she captures.
