I can’t believe I’m already a few weeks into my third trimester and only have 9 more weeks to go! Cody and I are both getting so excited to meet our little girl and see what she looks like. Our nursery is almost complete and my baby shower is this weekend. I’ll be sharing both on the blog soon, but if you want to see them sooner, follow me on snapchat and Instagram (elementsofellis) where I’ll be sharing sneak peeks (is that the right type of peek?…hopefully the baby doesn’t take after me in the spelling department).
HOW FAR ALONG? 31 weeks
TOTAL WEIGHT GAIN: 20 lbs (as of one week ago)
MATERNITY CLOTHES? Yes, but I can still wear some non-maternity tops and dresses.
BABY’S POSITION? Breach. I guess most baby’s are head down by now, but not my little girl. She still has time to flip into the birthing position, but if she doesn’t flip by a month before my due date, I will most likely have to have a c-section. Even though a c-section isn’t ideal, I’ve been mentally preparing for it this entire pregnancy. My mom had to have a scheduled c-section because my sister was breach, and my sister had to have an emergency c-section because my niece flipped into the breach position when my sister was 10cm dilated.
STRETCH MARKS? Nope 🙂 I’ve been lathering up with the lotion, even though some people say that doesn’t really work, but I’m not taking any chances.
MOVEMENT: Yes and I LOVE it! I told Cody the other night that I think I’m going to miss feeling her move inside of me once she’s born. It’s such a cool feeling. And now you can even seen her movements when you just look at my belly.
SLEEP: I’m sleeping better than I did in the second trimester. I now only wake up once in the middle of the night. Usually around 1:40am.
FOOD CRAVINGS: Nectarines and ice cream (but not together).
SYMPTOMS? I’m losing my hair! I always thought people got thicker hair with pregnancy, but I’m the opposite. After I shower, the shower wall is covered in hair. It’s kind of disgusting. Haha! I’m also feeling a little more tired and still occasionally get legs cramps and bloody noses. All in all though, this pregnancy has been really easy so I can’t complain 🙂
GENDER: Girl! (You can see the gender reveal party post here).
NAME: Shhhh! It’s a secret. Everyone keeps asking if we have a name picked out and what it is. We’ve had the name picked out since I was 10 weeks pregnant (before we even knew if she was a girl), but we’re keeping it a secret until she’s born. I can tell you her middle name though…it will be Lee, same as my sister’s.
WEDDING RINGS ON OR OFF? On…for now. I feel like they’re starting to fit tighter, so I won’t be surprised if I have to take them off soon.
BIRTH PLAN? I honestly am not even thinking about a birth plan. I haven’t read any birthing/pregnancy/parenting books at all. I feel like you never know what is going to happen during delivery, so I’m trying to be ready for anything, and not have any set plans. I’m a super planned person and get really stressed when things don’t go as planned. Going into it without a plan and with an open mind, will help keep my stress levels down, if that makes any since. As far as not reading parenting books goes, my mom teaches child development, early childhood education, and love & logic, so my whole life has basically been a parenting class taught by the most amazing mom ever 🙂
XO, Kacie
You look great!!! I can’t wait to feel our little girl kick but I don’t think I’ve felt anything yet (19 weeks and 4 days). Lord I’m hoping I can sleep better during the 3rd trimester b/c right now, sleep is not going well.

It’s so exciting to feel the first kicks! I started feeling kicks around 19 weeks but my sister didn’t start feeling either of her two kids kick until she was in the mid-20 weeks, I want to say it was around 25 weeks. I hope you’re sleeping gets better too! 🙂
You are getting so close! So excited for you!
Let the countdown begin! 🙂
I can’t believe how quickly the time has gone by. You’re getting so close now! And as far as a birth plan, I really don’t think they’re necessary even though all the websites tell you that you NEED one. I just went in with the mindset of having a healthy baby and everything went smoothly. I hate hearing stories from my friends about being disappointed with their births because they didn’t go according to their plans! Keeping an open mind is good! 🙂

I’m glad to hear you say that! I’ve talked to a few fellow pregnant gals and they keep talking about birth plans, and just listening to it stresses me out and makes me feel bad for not having one. But my doctor said the same thing you said about birth never going as planned and it being a disappointment for the moms. I figure that as long and me and the baby and healthy at the end of it, all is good 🙂
How precious! Good luck with everything + I hope the last few weeks go smoothly!

You are so beautiful, and I feel like that picture should be on the cover of the pregnancy or parents magazine! Absolutely model beautiful! I’m so glad your pregnancy is going well and your baby girl is going to be so lucky to have you as a mom. Love that you’re giving her your sister’s middle name!

You look so beautiful. I can’t wait to met my little granddaughter. Glad you think am was an good mom. I know you will be an amazing mom. You are so good with Stevie and Shad. Cody will rock as a Daddy too!!
You are the best mom and Grrrrandmama! It will be so cute to hear our little girl say grandma like Stevie does. lol. And I’m sure you’ll be getting lots of phone calls with questions of what we need to do since you’re the pro and all 🙂 Love you mom!
Love reading your update! Now that I work with a mom parenting site, I read so much about don’t get too attached to your birth plan. So I think you’re on the right path (according to all the articles).
