When a new season rolls around, I get so excited to find new lipsticks and to start wearing my seasonal favorites. I have a few higher end lip products, but for the most part, I prefer to buy from the drugstore because they are so much more affordable (I’d rather spend my money on clothes. Who’s with me?! 😉 ). Below are my picks for the best drugstore lipsticks for spring and summer:

~Maybelline Color Sensational The Buffs: Nude Lust~

Being so fair skinned, I have a difficult time finding nude lipstick that doesn’t wash me out. I love that this shade has a gorgeous pinky-brown tint to it while still being nude. It looks so great with a smokey eye!

~NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream: Istanbul~

This is my first NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream and let me tell you, I am hooked! (Thanks Shanna for the recommendation!) This color is very close to my natural lip color and has been my go-to lately. I have really dry lips and sometimes matte colors can be even more drying on my lips but not this one! The color is going to be so perfect year-round!

~Maybelline Color Sensational Rebel Bloom: Power Peony~

I have been on the hunt for a pinky-purple shade for spring and hallelujah I have found it! This color screams spring and summer.

~Revlon Color Stay Just Bitten Balm Stain: Cherish~

I have five colors of the Revlon Color Stay Just Bitten Balm Stain collection (the color “honey” is my all time favorite), but each spring and summer, I find myself reaching for the color “cherish”. It’s a really pretty light pink color. This is the color I wish my lips were naturally.

~Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids: Shocking Coral~

This color is a family favorite…my mom, my sister, and I all have it 🙂 It’s the perfect spring/summer alternative to all the bold reds you see during fall and winter.maybelline-shocking-coral

I use the Revlon Color Stay Lip Liner in nude with all my lipstick colors. It matches my lips perfectly and blends well with all colors, from reds, to pink, to nudes, to bights, to pastels. Also, I have really really dry lips (it’s a curse I’ve struggled with my entire life). I use the Bliss Fabulips Sugar Lip Scrub and it really helps to take off the dead/dry skin. The EOS Read More

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Nail Polish Top Coat | Colors: Sugar Fix and Creme de la Creme

I’ve been wanting to try the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Nail Polish for so long, and now that I’ve finally tried it, all I can think is why did it take me so long to try it?! This stuff is so uh-mazing! I’ve gotten gel nails at the salon and I love the staying power of it, but I hate having to pay to get it done (mainly because I’d rather spend my money on new clothes or chocolate 😉 ) I try to paint my nails every Read More

Honey Beauty Products:

Have you ever wondered how people come up with all these weird at home, diy beauty remedies? Like who looks in their kitchen and thinks what should I rub all over my face today? Oh an avocado…or baking soda…or honey. Um, when I look in my kitchen all I think about it what’s going in my belly. My sister and I were talking about this and she said that for some reason she’s been having the urge to put honey on zits. So apparently that’s how Read More

When it comes to my hair, I like styles that are quick and easy to achieve but still look fabulous. If you ask me, the key to fabulous hair is volume. Whether you wear your hair down or in an updo, volume is always a must. Since I started using the Suave Professionals® Luxe Style Infusion Volumizing Soufflé Mousse, my hair has been thanking me! It has got so much more volume at the roots and my buns are way bigger…my hair buns, people. Get your minds out of the gutter.

So the other week, Cody and I had to go out of town and I packed my things last minute and wouldn’t you know it, I forgot all my makeup brushes! (I also forgot to pack underwear but that’s a whole other story.) Luckily, I always keep Q-tips Precision Tips in my makeup bag because they’re perfect for fixing makeup mistakes, like when I stab my eye with mascara and black mascara gets all over my face. But you guys, they do so much more than fix mistakes! They’re the ultimate beauty tool, with tapered ends specially designed for precise application and touch-ups for nails, eyes, lips and more! I used Q-tips Precision Tips to apply Read More

I thought it would be fun to share with you my favorite DIY beauty products using items you probably already have at home. Most of these don’t even require any mixing of ingredients or anything fancy like that. It’s basically just using products for a different use than they were originally intended for.
1. Cornstarch
Corn Starch makes the best translucent face powder! I started using corn starch a couple years ago and haven’t used any other face powder since. It sets your make-up and can be reapplied to cover up any shine. It’s super lightweight so it doesn’t make your makeup look cakey. I have an old Bare Minerals powder container that I fill with corn starch and keep in my makeup bag.

2. Coconut Oil
I’ve mentioned Coconut Oil in a previous post but it’s so good, I have to mention it again. I mean seriously, is there anything coconut oil can’t do?! It’s like the miracle oil. I mainly use it for three things. 1. To hydrate my hair. Once I week I message coconut oil in my hair, concentrating mainly on the ends. I leave it in for a few hours or overnight, and then wash my hair as normal. My hair is left feeling shiny, silky and smooth. 2. Eye make-up remover. Just swipe a cotton pad in some coconut oil and it easily takes off all eye make-up…even waterproof mascara! 3. As a lotion/moisturizer. Just rub it all over your body and you’ll have super amazing skin. I’ll be honest I don’t do this as often because it takes a while for the oil to soak in, so you have to wait to put clothes on and sometimes I just don’t have time for that. lol. But a couple times a week, I’ll use it as a facial moisturizer. I do it in the evenings while I’m watching TV so it has plenty of time to soak in before I go to bed.

3. Apple Cider Vinegar
This is by far the best way to get rid of dandruff! Dandruff is a bacteria (at least that’s what I’ve heard…I’m no doctor so I don’t really know the science behind dandruff) and apple cider vinegar kills bacteria, which means it kills dandruff. All you have to do is message it into your roots before you shampoo. My dad is the one who discovered this little trick. He used to have bad dandruff and had tried pretty much every dandruff shampoo out there. Apple cider vinegar is what finally worked for him. But even if you don’t have dandruff, apple cider vinegar is a great way to give your hair a deep clean. Using a lot of products can make you hair feel weighed down (or in my case, only washing my hair once a week can make my hair feel weighed down with dirtiness) and apple cider vinegar will make your hair feel lighter and healthier.

4. Toothpaste (it’s not just for your teeth)
Obviously toothpaste is a beauty product for your teeth but it can also be used to get rid of zits. Like I said before, I’m not a doctor/scientist person so I don’t know what exactly it is in toothpaste that helps get rid of them, but it does. Whenever I have a blemish, I dab a little bit of toothpaste on it before I go to bed and in the morning, the zit has already started to dry up.

5. Sugar + Lemon
This is another one that I’ve mentioned before but it’s worth mentioning again. This super easy lemon sugar scrub will leave your skin feeling oh so soft and gorgeous. The sugar is going to help soften the skin and the acids in the lemon are going to remove dead skin from your face and also help with acne, discoloration, and sun spots.
Items needed:
Lemon/lemon juice, sugar, and a cotton pad (like what you use to remove nail polish).
I recommend using organic lemons and sugar.
Step 1:  Wet your face with warm water.
Step 2: Squeeze lemon juice onto a cotton pad, soaking it.
Step 3: Sprinkle about a teaspoon of sugar on the cotton pad.
Step 4: Scrub your face with the cotton pad.
Step 5: Rinse your face.
Your skin will be left feeling soft and looking younger and cleaner.

6. Baby Powder

I know it’s probably wrong to steal from babies, but this is one product that is worth stealing! It makes the most amazing dry shampoo! Just sprinkle it on your roots and it soaks up all the extra oil. I have to really rub it in so the white powder doesn’t show on my dark hair, but I’ve heard you can mix in coco powder to give it a darker tint. I have the Batiste dry shampoo that I love and use a lot too but I think baby powder works even better than that. The only downside to baby powder is that it smells like baby powder. To hide the baby powder smell, I mist hair spray or something yummy smelling over my head.

Do you have any DIY beauty products you swear by? I’d love to hear them!

By | beauty, Holiday Style | 22 Comments

I LOVE the holidays! Spending time with friends and family, gift giving (and receiving 😉 ), holiday parties, etc. Since I get to see people I haven’t seen in a while, I like to step up my beauty routine to help me look my holiday best. Here are my favorite tips for a mini holiday make-over:

1. Crest 3D White Luxe Supreme FlexFit Whitestrips
I used Crest Whitestrips before the holidays last year and the first thing my cousin said to me was “Wow! Your teeth look so white!” It was then that I decided this is a must-do every year before the holidays. While shopping at Target*, you can pick up Crest 3D White Luxe Supreme FlexFit Whitestrips as a little holiday beauty treat for yourself (it would also make a perfect stocking stuffer) because really, who ever leaves Target without a little something extra just for themselves? This is the first time I’ve used the Crest 3D White Luxe Supreme FlexFit Whitestrips and I gotta say, they’re amazing! It’s Crest’s best whitening system yet. It gives you professional results for a flawless holiday smile–right at home. You only have to leave them on for an hour, so I put them in while I do my hair and makeup. My favorite thing about these is that you can stretch them to make sure you whiten the teeth in the back that only show when you smile. Can you say hello beautiful white smile?
*Get $7 off your purchase of Crest 3D White Luxe Supreme FlexFit Whitestrips at Target.com: http://clvr.li/1vwTKSS

Tip: If you have sensitive teeth, use the whitening stripes every couple days or once a week (instead of once day like the package says) until you reach the desired whiteness.

2. Bold Lipstick
Now that you have the perfect white smile, it’s time to show it off! A bold red lip is not only festive but really enhances white teeth. It’s the perfect pop of holiday spirit to add to your makeup routine. I’m wearing Mac Retro Matte Lipstick in Ruby Woo. It’s universally flattering and lasts almost all day. I’m telling you, this stuff really stays put. I’ve never had any issues with it transferring onto my teeth either. Which is very important when you’re showing of your pearly whites 🙂

Tip: To prevent the lipstick from bleeding, line your lips with a red lip pencil first.

3. Metallic Eyeshadow
It’s always fun to add a little sparkle to your holiday look and what better way to do it than eyeshadow. You can wear a metallic eyeshadow on your lid, under your lower lashes, or use an angled brush to wear it as eyeliner. Play around with it! Wear silver if you have cool toned skin (like me) and gold if you have a warm skin tone.

Tip: Apply eyeshadow before your foundation. This way if any of the metallic eyeshadow flakes onto your skin during the application, you can clean it up when you apply your foundation.
4. Festive Mani
I’ll be honest, I am horrible at painting my nails! My motto is, they’ll look good after I shower. lol. If you are talented enough to paint little Santa’s on your nails or candy cane stripes, I say go for it! I’m super jealous of your abilities. But if you’re talentless in the nail painting department like me, don’t let that stop you from having festive a mani. Try painting your nails red and your ring fingers silver. It’s festive, special for the holidays, and super easy. Trust me, if I can do it, anybody over the age of five can do it. You could also paint some glitter nail polish over your red polish for a little extra sparkle. Have you noticed I like sparkle during the holidays? Sparkling white teeth, sparkly eyeshadow, and sparkly nails. The more sparkle the better!

Tip: If you get nail polish on your skin, wait for the polish to dry and then rinse it under warm water. You will easily be able to rub it off.

Happy Holidays my friends!

Dove Dry Oil
Since I’ve started using the Dove Pure Care Dry Oil collection, my hair has never been softer or silkier. I’m telling you guys, all it took was one wash and I was hooked. My hair instantly felt silky but not weighed down or greasy at all. I only wash my hair once a week so finding a product that won’t weigh my hair down with grease is a must for me. Soft, silky, and grease-free…is that too much to ask for? Thanks to Dove, it is not.

With my new found silky hair, it has been so much easier to recreate some of the latest Fall hair trends, like braids (I am beyond excited that I can finally french braid), buns, and waves. Check out the pictures below to see some hair trends and read tips on how the Dove Pure Care Dry Oil collection helped me to achieve these looks.

Dove Dry Oil
Necklace: NadiaRima c/o
Braids have been one of the biggest hair trends for the past couple years but until recently, I was horrible at them. I’d get the sections all tangled up and after several tries, I’d eventually give up on the braid altogether. Since I started using the Dove Pure Care Dry Oil collection, I can easily pick up each section as I braid. I can now create a french/dutch braid in one try. You have no clue how excited I am about this.

Tip: When you’ve finished your braid, pull apart the braid to make it look more full.

Ballerina Bun
Dove Dry Oil
Earrings: NadiaRima c/o

Whether completely slicked back or with a few messy strands left out, you want your bun to be frizz free which usually requires the use of hairspray. But guess what?! I didn’t even have to use hair spray on this bun! That’s a first. Ok, it’s actually a third because this is the third time I’ve done my hair like this since using the Dove Pure Care Oil collection.

Tip: I added a little bit of the Dove Pure Care Dry Oil Nourishing Treatment to the finished bun to give it a more sleek look.

Loose Waves
Dove Dry Oil
Necklace: Primadonna c/o
There is no denying that loose, messy waves is the biggest hair trend right now. It works on any hair length and style and can be seen on practically every celebrity. The Dove Pure Care Dry Oil collection helps to give your waves the soft, touchable look that everyone wants.
Tip: After you’ve curled your hair, rub the Dove Pure Care Dry Oil Nourishing Treatment on the ends of your hair to combat any frizz/dryness caused by hot tools.
Dove Pure Care Dry Oil collection is suitable for all hair types. Dove Hair is daring women everywhere to try Dove Pure Care Dry Oil, risk free now through December 31, 2014*.  Now I’m going to talk to you on behalf of your hair…Take the “Dove Silky Hair Dare” and get this collection! Your hair will thank you and you will thank me and we will all thank Dove.
*If you are not completely satisfied with the Dove Advanced Hair Series Pure Care Dry Oil system, Dove will refund your purchase (from 9/21 – 12/31). Visit hairmoneyback.com for details

3 Tips To Make Your Eyes Stand Out

By | beauty | 19 Comments
Tip to Make Your Eyes Stand Out
I used to think I had really huge eyes, like Anne Hathaway or Amanda Seyfried big. I mean, people always say big brown eyes and I have brown eyes so they must be big too. Apparently the two don’t go hand-in-hand. I learned that my freshman year of high school when one of my classmates pointed out that my eyes are “kind of small”. Since then, it has been my mission to prove that classmate wrong. By golly, my eyes will be both brown and big and they will stand out more! Below are the best tips I’ve learned to make my eyes stand out and look bigger.
Younique's 3D FiberLash Mascara Review
1. Fill In Your Eyebrows
This is so important! Eyebrows frame your face and by filling them in, you will feel instantly more polished. You may find that a lot of people are looking into microblading, if you’re looking for this service, I’ve hear that ‘microblading bay area‘ has got some great reviews! It will add definition to your face and accentuate your eyes. A total must when trying to make your eyes really stand out. To get the perfect look, match your eyebrows to your hair color. For blondes, match to the darkest shade in your hair and for brunettes, match to the lightest shade in your hair. I use the Salon Perfect Brow Defining Kit. I’ve also heard great things about the Anastasia BrowWiz pencil and the Anastasia BrowDip Pomade. I plan to try one of those products next.
First of all let me just say that your eyelashes haven’t lived until they’ve tried this product! It’s that amazing! Like most women, I’ve always dreamed of having full, thick lashes, but unfortunately I was not blessed with amazing lashes nor was I blessed with the patience and skill it requires to put on fake lashes. Then came Younique’s 3D FiberLash Mascara and my prayers for gorgeous thick lashes were answered. It comes with two tubes, a tube of gel and a tube of natural fibers, that at first glance look like they’d be regular ol’ mascara but they are much much more than that. First you apply a coat of the gel on your eyelashes like you would apply regular mascara (making sure to really wiggle it into your lashes), then immediately brush the fibers over your lashes, and finish with a second coat of the gel to set the fibers in place (the directions say to use regular mascara at some point but I skip that part, although I do use regular mascara for my bottom lashes). I find it’s easiest to do one eye at a time. The results are full natural looking lashes that last all day! The fibers have never flaked off on me but with a little eye makeup remover (I use coconut oil), they are easily removed at the end of the day. Now that I’ve gotten used to having such full lashes from this product, I don’t ever want to go back. My eyes have never stood out so much! I’m pretty sure if I was stranded on an island and could only bring one beauty product, it would be this. Get it! Now!
3. Nude Eyeliner
If you want your eyes to look bigger, nude eyeliner is your best friend. It really makes your eyes pop! It makes them look bright and big and it’s more natural looking and a lot less harsh than white liner. When you first put it on, it might feel like a little too bold but after a few minutes it blends in and looks a lot more natural while still making such a huge difference. I use Rimmel London Eyeliner in nude but there so many other options too.
Tip to Make Your Eyes Stand Out

Before: No Brow Fill, Wearing Regular Mascara, No Nude Liner
After: Filling in Brows, 3D FiberLash Mascara, Nude Liner
So there you have it folks and rude classmate, never again will someone tell me I have “kind of small” eyes! My eyes will stand out and be the star of the show my face!
