Best Playdough RecipeThe Best Homemade Playdough

3 Cups Flour

1 1/2 Cups Salt

6 tsp Cream of Tartar

6 TBS Oil

3 Cups Water

My daughters absolutely LOVE playing with playdough and helping me make it too! This recipe is one my mom used in her 30 years of childcare and she claims it’s the best ever. The consistency is really great and it lasts for a super long time. I store mine in a zip lock bag (the mason jar was just for a pretty picture) and it lasts us for months! We usually only have to make more because the girls leave shapes out to “bake” (aka dry out) when they’re doing pretend play, but 4+ months later the playdough consistency is still good.

Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl. If you want to make it a certain color, this is the best/easiest time to add the food coloring (you can add it after the playdough is cooked but it will be messier). Cook over low heat until a ball forms. Allow it to cool and then knead it. You can knead in essential oils to give it a nice, seasonal smell.

XO, Kacie
