I absolutely love the way Iris’ room turned out. It’s simple and neutral with whimsical touches and soft pops of pink. My favorite thing in the nursery is the song lyric sign hanging over her crib. Iris was named after my mom and my grandma (who passed away when I was 12, but I was very very close to her). Iris’ middle name is Wilson, which is my grandma’s maiden name. And one of my grandmas favorite songs was “Oh What A Beautiful Morning” so I came up with the idea to make a big wooden sign above her bed with the song lyrics on it. And to make it even more special, I wanted it to be in my mom’s handwriting. It was a team effort and hard work to make it, but I’m so happy with how it turned out. It will be something that I will cherish forever, and my hope is that when Iris is older, she’ll want it to hang somewhere in her house. We also made a sign for Hazel’s room with the lyrics to a song my mom used to sing to my sister and me, and it’s in my sister’s handwriting because Hazel was named after my sister (they both have the middle name Lee). Things that have sentimental value like that, are worth so much more to me than anything I could ever buy in the store.

XO, Kacie
